What's a year-end receipt?

A consolidated record of everything a donor gave you in a calendar year. Donors need it for their tax filing if they itemize. The IRS requires nonprofits to send these statements for any donor who gave $250 or more in a single donation.

Step-by-step

  1. 1
    Open the donor reports page

Reports → Year-End Receipts. The page defaults to the last completed calendar year.

  2. 2
    Review the donor count

We show the number of donors who qualify for a statement (anyone with at least one gift in that year). Filter to '≥ $250 single gift' if you only want IRS-required ones.

  3. 3
    Choose a format

Bulk PDF (zipped, one PDF per donor) — best for printing or for upload to your CRM. Or Bulk Email — sends each donor their PDF directly.

  4. 4
    Generate

We process the batch in the background. For most nonprofits this takes under 60 seconds; very large lists may take 5 minutes. You'll get an in-app notification when it's ready.

The Reports dashboard. Switch between Compliance Summary, Campaign Performance, Donation Reports, and Organization Overview tabs — each generates a board-ready PDF with one click.

Customizing the receipt template

Settings → Receipts lets you customize:

  • The thank-you message at the top
  • Whether to include cumulative giving for the donor's lifetime
  • Your authorized signatory's name and title
  • Your IRS-acknowledgment language (we provide a compliant default)
